Newcastle United are reportedly among the clubs who are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura on a free transfer.

Newcastle United are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs who hold an interest in Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura.

Injuries and the arrival of new signings have led to the Brazil international falling significantly down the pecking order at the North Londoners.

The 30-year-old has been provided with just 295 minutes of football in the Premier League and Champions League this season, while he also played 74 minutes of the FA Cup defeat at Sheffield United.

As a result, the relevant parties have mutually agreed that Moura will depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a free transfer at the end of June.

Although only foreign clubs are formally allowed to initiate talks with the playmaker, that has not stopped Premier League clubs from monitoring the situation.

According to Torcedores, Newcastle are among the clubs who may be interested in handing Moura a contract.

The Magpies will return to European football next season and their participation in either the Champions League or Europa League means that their squad numbers will need to be boosted.

While Newcastle are well stocked for options in the final third, the versatility and experience of a proven Premier League player and international such as Moura could prove invaluable.

The report claims that Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also admirers of Moura, with an approach from June onwards seemingly not out of the question.

Villa are also attempting to earn a return to the continent with a top-seven finish in the Premier League, while Wolves are believed to have a big summer planned now that they have secured their Premier League survival.

Lazio, Roma and Marseille have reportedly emerged as alternatives in Italy and France, Moura having already spent time in the latter through his stint with Paris Saint-Germain.

If Moura fails to feature in Spurs' remaining three games of the season, he will leave the club having contributed 38 goals and 27 assists from 219 appearances in all competitions.

Having served a three-match ban, Moura was an unused substitute as Spurs defeated Crystal Palace by a 1-0 scoreline on Saturday.
