Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been reportedly pinpointed as Bayern Munich's ideal candidate for the permanent manager role following the sacking of Niko Kovac.

The club recently dismissed the Croat following a 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt that left Bayern fourth in Bundesliga table.

With assistant Hansi Flick taking over on a temporary basis, Bayern have commenced their hunt for a new manager, with Arsene Wenger reportedly among the club's targets.

According to The Athletic, however, Bayern's ideal option would be Pochettino should he leave Spurs this season.

The Argentine has struggled for consistent results since August, with the North London side sitting 14th in the Premier League table after 12 games.

Thomas Tuchel, Jose Mourinho, Erik ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick have all been mentioned as other potential candidates for the Bayern job.
