Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane feels that only a world record breaking bid will see Gareth Bale move from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has claimed that the club must break the world transfer record in order to land Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale.

Bale enjoyed an impressive campaign at White Hart Lane last season, scoring 21 goals en route to being crowned the PFA's Player and Young Player of the Year.

The Welshman's form has seen him repeatedly linked with a lucrative move to Real Madrid this summer, and Zidane feels that only an offer in excess of the £80m they paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 will suffice.

"If any club is going to tempt Spurs, then it will take big money – maybe record-breaking money," The Mirror quotes Zidane as saying.

"But there are four or five clubs at the moment who have the finances not to be put off by a record-breaking fee like that."

Zidane won the Champions League with los Blancos in 2002 and was part of the France teams that won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.
