Stoke City come from behind to earn a 2-1 victory over Swansea City in Saturday's Premier League clash at the bet365 Stadium.

Stoke City have moved into 13th place in the Premier League table with a 2-1 victory over Swansea City in Saturday's encounter at the bet365 Stadium.

The Potters had fallen behind thanks to an early goal from Wilfried Bony, but Xherdan Shaqiri and Mame Biram Diouf scored before the break to earn manager Mark Hughes a much-need win.

Swansea ended their long drought in front of goal, but Paul Clement's side now sit at the bottom of the table after a seventh top-flight defeat in eight matches.

The visitors had initially stunned Stoke by taking a third-minute lead through former Potters loanee Bony, who scored his first league goal in over 13 months with a volley at the near post.

However, Stoke soon found their stride with Joe Allen and Shaqiri both firing over, and Peter Crouch adding to that list just before the half-hour mark.

The home side continued to press, however, and they got their reward nine minutes before the break when Shaqiri poked the ball into the net after good work from Diouf and Allen.

Moments later, the turnaround was complete when Diouf got on the scoresheet for the fourth time this season with a confident finish into the bottom corner after the referee had previously adjudged that he had not controlled the ball with his arm.

Chances were few and far between after the restart but Stoke should have made it three when Shaqiri attempted to set up Diouf for his second, only for the Senegalese winger to squander the chance.

Swansea hit back with Ki Sung-yueng forcing a good save out of the returning Jack Butland, before the England stopper had to remain alert to prevent Ryan Shawcross from putting through his own net.

Stoke had to survive a number of nervy moments during the final minutes, but Hughes will be relieved with the club's four-game winless streak being brought to an end against one of their direct rivals.

Stoke City (3-4-3): Butland; Zouma, Martins Indi (Wimmer 53'), Shawcross; Pieters, Diouf, Allen, Fletcher (Afellay 70'); Choupo-Moting (Ramadan 70'), Shaqiri, Crouch

Swansea City (4-3-1-2): Fabianski; Van der Hoorn, Mawson, Naughton, Olsson; Ki; Fer (Sanches 85'), Clucas (Carroll 73'); Ayew (McBurnie 73'); Abraham, Bony
