Jack Colback has said that Sunderland's League Cup final meeting with Manchester City will be a "massive" day for the club.
The Black Cats have not won a major trophy since lifting the FA Cup in 1973, but Colback is confident his team can claim a victory against the Citizens at Wembley on Sunday.
"I'm buzzing for it; I think it's going to be a massive day for the fans, a massive day for the club and it's going to be a good experience for us [players]," he told the club's official website. "Hopefully we can come away from with a win - I've never been before and I never went to the old one so that will be a good experience in itself.
"It's something I've never been involved in before and it's good to be involved, obviously when we were in the FA Cup [in 2011-12] it was disappointing how we went out of that when we had a good opportunity to go further.
"You always want to try and get to cup finals and stuff like that because you see other teams doing it and it's always good to watch when it's on the television so to be involved in it is great."
Sunderland are yet to win the League Cup in their history, and lost in their only final appearance to Norwich City in 1985.
