Sunderland confirm that Steve Bruce's future at the club is not in jeopardy, despite a poor start to the season.

Sunderland have denied press reports that the club are considering the future of manager Steve Bruce.

Stories had claimed that club owner Ellis Short had lost patience with Bruce following the Black Cats' 2-1 defeat at home to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

Bruce signed 12 new players during the summer but his side have made a stuttering start to the new season, claiming two points from four matches. They also exited the Carling Cup to Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite the slow opening to the campaign, the club have stated that Bruce is not under pressure, according to Sky Sports News.
