Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins insists that the club have not made a fresh bid for Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes.

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has admitted that the Welsh club have shown previous interest in Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes but has insisted that the Premier League outfit have not lodged a fresh bid.

Reports emerged yesterday claiming that the Swans had put forward a £3m offer for the 24-year-old Dutchman, but Jenkins has revealed that this is not the case.

"We made an enquiry with Middlesbrough six weeks ago regarding Marvin's availability," BBC Sport quotes Jenkins as saying. "We needed to test the water. But that was six weeks ago when Brendan Rodgers was the manager. We have certainly not made an enquiry since then."

Meanwhile, new Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has suggested that Gylfi Sigurdsson will not sign a permanent deal with the club, with Liverpool believed to be poised to capture the midfielder.
