Preview: Thailand vs. South Korea - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's World Cup Qualifying - Asia clash between Thailand and South Korea, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Round four of the Asian World Cup qualifiers sees Thailand entertain the challenge of South Korea at the Rajamangala Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Both teams had to make do with a share of the spoils from their last outing and will be keen to go one better this time around.

South Korea saw their 100% record in the World Cup qualifiers come to an end in a 1-1 draw against Thailand at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Thursday.

Hwang Sun-hong's men took the lead three minutes shy of half time through Son Heung-Min before Suphanat Mueanta restored parity just past the hour mark.

Nonetheless, the Taegeuk Warriors remain top of Group C, three points clear of Thailand and China midway through the qualifying campaign.

Up next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who are without a victory in the previous eight editions of this fixture across all competitions.

Having all but secured themselves a place in the next phase of the World Cup qualifiers, South Korea will be confident of picking up another positive result here.

Thailand showed great spirit to come away with a hard-fought point against Korea last time out despite being on the back foot for large spells of the contest.

However, Masatada Ishii's men have now gone five games without a win since kicking off their Asian Cup journey with a 2-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan back in January.

Currently boasting four points from three matches so far, the War elephants sit second in Group C but are in no way assured of a top-two finish with China breathing down their necks.

Off the back of defeats in their last two home outings leading up to Tuesday's affair, Tuesday's hosts now go in search of a much-needed win in front of their fans.

Team News

Suphanat Mueanta found the back of the net within three minutes of coming on as a second-half substitute and could be rewarded with a start here.

Theerathon Bunmathan racked up his 102nd international appearance last time out and remains a mainstay in the starting XI at the age of 34.

Following his opener against Thailand, Son Heung-min has now netted in three of his last four outings for club and country, making him one to keep an eye on.

Kang-in Lee had to make do with a brief cameo last time out, but the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is expected to return to the XI here.

Thailand possible starting lineup:
Khammai; Bunmathan, Hemviboon, Thongsong, Mickelson; Sarachat, Pomphun, Chamratsamee, Wonggorn; Jaided, Songkrasin

South Korea possible starting lineup:
Jo; Seol, Kim Min-jae, Kim Young-gwon, Kim Jin-su; Paik, Hwang, Lee Jae-sung; Lee Kang-in, Son, Joo

We say: Thailand 1-3 South Korea

Thailand upset the odds to come away with a hard-fought point last time out, but Tuesday's hosts are expected to be in for another tough test here. We are backing South Korea to come out on top in what should be a largely one-sided affair.
