Preview: Tottenham Hotspur Ladies vs. Manchester United Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Tottenham Hotspur Ladies and Manchester United Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies will attempt to avoid a seventh consecutive defeat in the Women's Super League when they play host to Manchester United Women on Sunday.

The visitors, meanwhile, will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games in all competitions.

Tottenham began the season with three wins from their opening five league matches, but they have failed to add to their points tally since a memorable 8-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on October 30.

In their most recent outing, goals from Bethany England and Nikola Karczewska were not enough to prevent Tottenham from falling to a 3-2 defeat to London rivals Chelsea.

Spurs have now lost their last six league games by a combined 14-3 scoreline, leaving them in ninth position in the WSL table and six points above the sole relegation place.

Rehanne Skinner's side are currently preparing for a tough run of fixtures, with Man United, Manchester City and Arsenal are all to come in the next four league games.

After conceding at least two goals in their last four home league matches, Tottenham will be looking for an improved defensive display on Sunday.

Although Man United are unbeaten in nine games in all competitions, they would have been disappointed to drop points against Everton last weekend.

The Red Devils entered the home meeting with the Toffees as league leaders, but after playing out a goalless draw they dropped down to second place.

With three points separating them from table toppers Chelsea, Man United remain firmly in the title race, but their position in the top three is far from secure, with Man City and Arsenal only three points adrift of the Red Devils, and the latter has the advantage of a game in hand.

Marc Skinner's side will face Chelsea when they return from the international break in four weeks time, so they will be keen to at least maintain their current gap to the Blues with a win on Sunday.

Having won seven and drawn one of their eight competitive meetings with Spurs, Man United will be confident that they can claim all three points.

Team News

Kyah Simon, Ellie Brazil, Ria Percival, Ramona Petzelberger and Kit Graham are all expected to miss out for the hosts through injury.

Although they were narrowly beaten by Chelsea last weekend, Skinner could be tempted to name an unchanged lineup.

Since joining the club from Chelsea in January, England has scored three goals in four Tottenham appearances, and she will be aiming to continue her fine run of form on Sunday.

As for the visitors, January arrivals Lisa Naalsund and Jayde Riviere are not expected to be available until mid-March as they continue to work their way towards full fitness.

Leah Galton returned from a spell on the sidelines to play 67 minutes last weekend, and she is set to retain her place in the side.

Nikita Parris dropped out of the lineup for the goalless draw against Everton, but the England international could return to the starting XI on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies possible starting lineup:
Korpela; Turner, Bartrip, Zadorsky; Neville, Summanen, Spence, Harrop; Bizet, Iwabuchi, England

Manchester United Women possible starting lineup:
Earps; Batlle, Le Tissier, Turner, Blundell; Ladd, Zelem; Parris, Toone, Galton; Russo

We say: Tottenham Hotspur Ladies 1-3 Manchester United Women

If Man United are to be considered serious title challengers, they can ill-afford to drop points on Sunday, and we think they will show their mettle to claim an away victory over a struggling Tottenham side.
