Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly been dealt a blow in their efforts to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres has developed a reputation as one of Europe's most prolific strikers since joining the Portuguese giants from Coventry City in the summer of 2023.

The 26-year-old racked up 43 goals in 50 competitive appearances in his first season as a Sporting player, including 29 league goals to help his side lift the Primeira Liga title.

Gyokeres has already matched last season's tally, having netted 43 goals in 43 matches in all competitions in the current campaign.

Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer a new contract to key defender Antonio Rudiger.

The experienced centre-back is currently facing an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu despite being an important player in Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

Rudiger is set to enter the final 12 months of his current Real Madrid deal, which will expire at the end of the 2025-26 season.

As it stands, Los Blancos would be running the risk of Rudiger leaving on a free transfer in just over a year if they do not agree a new deal.

Conte could haunt Spurs as 'growing admiration' for £50m creator revealed

Tottenham Hotspur winger Dejan Kulusevski has reportedly caught the eye of two top-level Italian clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old is currently sidelined with a foot injury, and his absence has been well and truly felt, as Spurs have won just one of their five games in all competitions without the Swedish attacker.

Ange Postecoglou's men have also failed to find the back of the net in three of those clashes, most recently a 1-0 Premier League loss to London rivals Chelsea on Thursday evening, which made it four games without a win in the top flight.

The Lilywhites' dreadful season has left them 14th in the Premier League standings - "unacceptable" in Postecoglou's own words - although they are still vying for Europa League glory between now and the end of the season.

Manchester City are apparently readying a bid to sign Southampton's Tyler Dibling, whom the Saints have slapped a mammoth £100m price tag on.

Dibling has been a shining light in an otherwise disheartening campaign for Ivan Juric's side, who could be officially relegated from the Premier League in record time this weekend.

The Saints are 19 points adrift of safety with eight games left to play, and if Wolverhampton Wanderers defeat Ipswich Town and Southampton lose to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, their demotion will be confirmed.

Dibling has been tipped to return to the Southampton starting lineup for the imminent meeting with Spurs, where the 19-year-old will endeavour to build on a record of four goals and three assists from 31 games in all competitions this season.

"A young Gerrard" - Arsenal 'make approach' for £17.5m 'Bellingham-type' player

Arsenal have supposedly made an approach to sign Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, who has been likened to Jude Bellingham and Steven Gerrard.

The Gunners are set for a reshuffle in the number six position during the summer transfer window, as both Thomas Partey and Jorginho are due to depart when their contracts expire in June.

Jorginho is understood to have already given the green light to a move to Flamengo at the end of the campaign, while Arsenal seemingly have no intention of tying Partey down to fresh terms.

In preparation for both players' departures, Arsenal are expected to win the race to sign Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi in a £51m deal, but Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich will not be arriving alongside him.

"Sneak out the back door": How Alexander-Arnold has made a mess of his departure

There is no good way for Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave Liverpool on a free transfer
© Imago

Trent Alexander-Arnold has handled his departure from Liverpool naively and his apparent decision to join Real Madrid has been a distraction, Reds expert David Lynch has claimed.

Curtis Jones filled in for the injured right-back against Everton on Wednesday night, and his performance against the Toffees earned plaudits from fans and pundits.

Liverpool supporters may have to get used to seeing others take up a position on the right side of defence given reports have emerged in the past weeks suggesting that Alexander-Arnold's departure for free to Real Madrid will be imminently confirmed.

Lynch argued that the nature of his contract saga has been a distraction this season, and said that the defender's choice to not speak publicly about his future has been detrimental for the team, telling Sports Mole: "I totally understand his stance of not wanting to talk about it publicly and avoid doing so - he's stopped in the mix zone once this season to speak to us.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has insisted that Alejandro Garnacho "is doing the right things" following fresh criticism of the attacker for his display against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

Garnacho struggled to make his mark in his side's 1-0 defeat at the City Ground, and the 20-year-old has only found the back of the net on one occasion in the Premier League since the middle of November.

The Argentina international has nine goals and eight assists in 46 appearances in all competitions for Man United this term, but there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future.

Amorim has said that Garnacho "needs to improve" in a number of areas, and there remain question marks surrounding his suitability for Man United's 3-4-3 system under their new head coach.

Kevin De Bruyne has announced that he will be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of June, joined the Citizens in the summer of 2015 from Wolfsburg for a fee of £54.5m, one that raised many eyebrows at the time.

However, De Bruyne has enjoyed a legendary decade at the Etihad Stadium and will go down as one of Man City's greatest players after winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five EFL Cups and the Champions League.

The Belgium international, who is the longest serving player in Pep Guardiola's current squad, was also part of the historic treble-winning team in 2022-23 and helped the Citizens win an unprecedented fourth consecutive English top-flight title last season.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a €100m (£85m) move for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde during this summer's transfer window, with the Red Devils viewing him as a transformative signing.

Valverde, 26, has again been in outstanding form for Real Madrid during the 2024-25 campaign, making 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and registering seven assists in the process.

The Uruguay international has been used at right-back in the latter stages of this season's Champions League, excelling in that position, but he is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in world football.

Valverde last signed a contract extension with Real Madrid in November 2023, with his deal running until June 2029, but Man United are said to be planning a spectacular move for him during the summer market.

The 33-year-old has again been outstanding for Liverpool this season, but there is severe doubt when it comes to his future, and the Reds are said to be assessing the centre-back options available to them.

According to Nacional Cat, Liverpool are keen on Araujo, with a deal for the Uruguay international thought to be a possibility despite the fact that he has only just signed a new deal with Barcelona.

The Red Devils will move for a new forward ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Ipswich Town's Liam Delap and Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres among those linked with switches to Old Trafford.

According to The Sun, Lucca is also firmly on Man United's radar, with the 20-time English champions considering making a £25m move for the 6ft 7in forward at the end of the campaign.

The Italy international has scored 12 times and registered two assists in 32 appearances for Udinese this season, while he has 21 goals and six assists in 71 matches in total for the Italian side, including a loan spell.
