Paraguay striker Nelson Valdez has spoken of his delight at completing a move to Valencia.
The 28-year-old signed a four-year contract with Rubin Kazan last summer, but struggled to settle in Russia without his wife and child.
Valdez will now join Los Che on an initial 12-month loan deal with the option of a £2.5m transfer.
"Coming to such a great club gives me tremendous joy," said Valdez. "I am coming with all the motivation in the world to perform as well as possible.
"Until now, my daughter could not go to school and my family could not live with me in Kazan.
"It was difficult for them and for me. [Kurban] Berdiev understood my problems and has let me move."
Valdez scored three goals in 20 appearances last season.
