Crystal Palace are reportedly nearing the capture of former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko on a free transfer.
The Malian international is without a club after being released by Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
West Ham United were thought to be favourites to sign the 29-year-old, but the London Evening Standard claims that his move to Upton Park broke down over a failure to agree personal terms.
His agent Jose Segui has denied that a deal with Palace has been finalised but talks are apparently ongoing, with Palace manager Tony Pulis keen to bring in Sissoko on a short-term contract.
Sissoko made 87 appearances in a three-year spell at Anfield and has since spent time at Juventus, PSG and Fiorentina.
