Gary Caldwell hails "incredible" Callum McManaman

Gary Caldwell says that Callum McManaman can spur Wigan Athletic on to Premier League survival after starring in the FA Cup final.

Wigan Athletic defender Gary Caldwell has labelled his teammate Callum McManaman as "incredible" after his display in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

McManaman picked up the man-of-the-match award as he helped the Latics beat Manchester City at Wembley to record their first major trophy in the club's 81-year history.

Caldwell has now urged McManaman to carry his blistering form into the last two matches of the season and help Wigan avoid relegation from the Premier League.

"I thought he was unbelievable," Caldwell told Sky Sports News.

"For a young player who's not played a lot of games, to come to an FA Cup final and play against one of the best left-backs in the league in Gael Clichy.

"I thought he caused him so many problems. His ability on the ball is incredible and he's got a big future. Hopefully this can help him kick on as well."

Wigan must beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night to beat the drop.
