Some sharp build-up play from the visitors 12 minutes into the contest culminated in Elliott Bennett getting a strike in at goal, but the deflected effort looped kindly into the hands of Carl Ikeme.
Canaries debutant Lewis Grabban went on a driving run towards the Wolves goal on 25 minutes, only for his cut-back for Nathan Redmond to be well defended by the Wolves backline.
Bakary Sako was beginning to cause Norwich some problems as the first half progressed, although the best he could achieve from his succession of low crosses into the box was a corner which ultimately came to nothing.
The second 45 minutes produced more openings, and Nouha Dicko's dangerous delivery was almost tapped home by Sako, who was unable to make contact with the ball at the back post.
The game took a twist on the hour mark when Norwich left-back Martin Olsson was shown his second yellow card of the afternoon after bringing Rajiv van la Parra to the ground.

It proved to be a decisive moment in the game as just five minutes later Edwards guided a header past John Ruddy to give last season's League One champions the lead.
Norwich looked to find an equaliser, yet the best chance for a second goal fell to Sako, who hit his shot straight at Ruddy following some clever work by Dicko.
