Stoke City have reportedly made progress in their attempts to sign Benik Afobe from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Last week, Wolves took up the option to sign Afobe on a permanent deal after the forward had enjoyed a successful loan period at Molineux during the second half of the season.
However, just 48 hours after making the switch, Afobe was linked with a surprise exit to Stoke and it now appears that the 25-year-old is closer to moving to the bet365 Stadium.
According to Sky Sports News, the two clubs are in advanced talks over a deal, which would see Wolves make a small profit on the money that they paid last week.
Stoke have just been relegated to the Championship but Afobe is a proven goalscorer at that level, with 28 goals being scored in his last 62 appearances at the second tier.
If a deal is completed, Wolves would again be left without a recognised number nine ahead of their return to the Premier League.
