Having conceded the lead at the top of the League One standings, there have been reasons why Matt Bloomfield could have felt slightly discouraged over the Christmas period.
However, in the long run, this is a team that are now 19 matches unbeaten in the division, their latest success coming at Stevenage by a 3-0 scoreline on Boxing Day.
The Chairboys had been held to draws in three of their four previous matches, yet they were able to cruise to what felt like an important win at the Lamex Stadium.
As well as remaining just one point adrift of new pacesetters Birmingham City, Wycombe are still two points clear of third-placed Wrexham with a game in hand.
Furthermore, they still possess, by far, the best away record in League One, prevailing from eight of their 12 league fixtures on their travels.

Charlton had lost their way under Nathan Jones from the end of September onwards, moving the Addicks into the bottom half of the table.
Nevertheless, Jones has found a way to get Charlton back on track, collecting 11 points from their most recent six games to kick-start their playoff bid.
A hard-earned 2-1 triumph was secured against Cambridge United on Boxing Day, Charlton continue to take advantage of fixtures versus some of the teams towards the bottom of the standings.
That said, although Charlton hold a home win over Birmingham this season, they have not defeated a team above the bottom five since October 5.

Unless Jones wishes to freshen up his Charlton XI, he could choose to select the same team that edged past Cambridge.
Over the last two matches, the same 11 players have featured in different formations, Jones left with a decision whether to go 3-1-4-2 or 4-2-3-1.
Miles Leaburn has starred versus Northampton Town and Cambridge, contributing two goals and two assists during that double-header.
If Bloomfield is to make any alterations to his Wycombe XI, it may see Tyreeq Bakinson return in central midfield in place of Aaron Morley.
Garath McCleary and Daniel Udoh are also waiting in the wings if Bloomfield wishes to freshen things up in the final third.
Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Maynard-Brewer; Mitchell, Jones, Gillesphey, Edwards; Coventry, Docherty; Campbell, Berry, Small; Leaburn
Wycombe Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Ravizzoli; Grimmer, Low, Taylor, Harvie; Leahy, Morley; Onyedinma, Humphreys, Lubala; Kone
We say: Charlton Athletic 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers
With both teams showing their respective resilience and quality in recent games, this should prove to be one of the games of the weekend. However, we can only back the visitors to come through, even if it is by the odd goal in three.
