Lotus driver Romain Grosjean has conceded that he was surprised to learn of Eric Boullier's departure to McLaren.
Boullier made the switch last month to replace Martin Whitmarsh as McLaren's racing director, a position similar to the one he held at Lotus.
"It was big news and actually it surprised even us. I think it's a big opportunity for him and I understand that," Grosjean told Infosport Plus.
"Now we need to find someone to replace him at Enstone, because Eric guided the team very well."
Boullier started his new role with McLaren on February 3.
