Lewis Hamilton has said that he is targeting to finish in the same place he starts at the European Grand Prix this afternoon.
The McLaren driver managed to qualify behind the ominous time set by reigning double world champion Sebastian Vettel.
"Coming in to this weekend, and definitely as it started, I didn't expect to be as high up as I am now," said the Englishman, who leads this year's world championship by two points from Fernando Alonso.
"That is through struggling with the set-up of the car, and knowing that it is a tough circuit for the tyres – and it will be in the race.
"The target is to finish where I am starting, and after that anything above that is a positive."
Hamilton's teammate Jenson Button continued his poor run of recent form and could only secure ninth place on the grid.
