Max Verstappen's current overwhelming dominance of Formula 1 is "a bit dangerous" for the sport, according to Francois Dumontier, who promotes the annual Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.

Lando Norris of McLaren took the victory at the Miami GP, yet Verstappen continued to leave his mark by winning the sprint race and both qualifying rounds in the same weekend.

"In the long term, for the average racing fan, there is a disinterest coming in now unless you are a die-hard Verstappen fan," Dumontier expressed during his time at the Miami GP, as reported by Le Journal de Montreal.

"How many fans are now saying they watched the start and then went to mow the lawn before returning to the television for the end of the race?" he questioned further.

"For the sport, that's a bit dangerous."

Nevertheless, Dumontier remains optimistic about the appeal of the Canadian Grand Prix, even amid the sport's current predictability.

"We have good crowds and good fans of Formula 1 and its teams," he noted. "Even in years when no Canadian drivers raced in F1, the grand prix remained popular."
