McLaren has implemented a temporary fix to manage the team's requirements at this weekend's Austrian GP.

This week, Dr Helmut Marko disclosed that the Woking-based team had approached Red Bull, seeking a backup motorhome that McLaren could deploy at the Red Bull Ring for the weekend.

"They asked us," the Red Bull F1 consultant confirmed to Kleine Zeitung.

The primary grand paddock 'motorhome' for McLaren is currently unavailable for the upcoming series of grands prix due to an electrical fire in Barcelona.

"Unfortunately we couldn't help them out because we are using the Energy Station and hospitality at the MotoGP at the same time," Marko explained.

"I don't know what they're doing now."

Matthias Janisch, reporting early Thursday from the Austrian GP site for Kleine Zeitung, noted that McLaren has arranged a stopgap solution.

"A smaller, black motorhome will be the home of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri this weekend," he reported.

Meanwhile, Marko expressed his approval for the FIA and the Red Bull Ring's collaborative response to the problematic 'track limits' issue from last year's event.

Thin, provisional gravel strips have been installed beside the kerbs at critical turns 9 and 10, with Marko stating, "It should work and is certainly appropriate in terms of cost-benefit analysis."

Nevertheless, he showed less enthusiasm about the prospect of removing these strips for other racing series, including MotoGP.

"If you look at the track in Barcelona, there is gravel as far as the eye can see and MotoGP races there too," he observed. "So it seems to be working."

"Perhaps the track should do a better job of asserting itself against such demands."
