Lewis Hamilton: 'I hope I can capitalise on pole position at Monaco Grand Prix'

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton reveals that he has been working on overcoming certain 'weaknesses' in order to come out on top at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton is hoping to "capitalise" on pole position this afternoon in order to claim just his second Monaco Grand Prix success.

The Mercedes driver came out on top in qualifying at the ninth time of asking on Saturday, despite finishing behind teammate Nico Rosberg in the first two practice sessions.

Hamilton acknowledges that his task is far from complete, and also admits that he must overcome one or two 'weaknesses' on the famous street track.

"The weekend's not been perfect. I guess the perfect weekend is to ace every session - but it's not so far off that," the Englishman is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I've always been quick in the race here, but further back so I've not been able to get by. If it's a one-stop [race] then it's the start and the one pit-stop you have a chance to get by. They're both very good opportunities.

"I was just going through my lap just now and I was quickest in all those areas that I was weaker, which was a real positive. By doing this work that we've done to improve, I hope that I can capitalise on this position."

Hamilton's only previous Monaco victory came back in 2008.
