The Formula 1 calendar will include two United States grands prix from 2013 if plans for a New Jersey street race go ahead.
Currently there are no races in the States but next year F1 returns to Austin, Texas before the New Jersey race joins a year later.
F1 President Bernie Ecclestone has been quoted in the past favouring a second US race, preferably in New York.
"It's happening. We are talking to them and trying to do our best. Let's see what happens," the 80-year-old told AUTOSPORT last year.
New Jersey politicians are now reportedly set to make an announcement as early as next week.
