Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says that the Olympic Stadium could stage a London Grand Prix in the future.

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that a company are bidding to win the use of the Olympic Stadium following the Games in order to stage a London Grand Prix.

If successful a Grand Prix in the capital could be organised for in and around the newly-built stadium with Intelligent Transport Solutions Ltd emerging as one of five bidders eager to secure the rights to use the ground for this purpose.

"This is a firm that happened to be bidding for use of the stadium, not to own it," Ecclestone told The Telegraph.

"They came up with a scheme whereby Formula One would race around the stadium, inside it, outside it. They wanted to make sure I would be interested."

Meanwhile, Premier League outfit West Ham United remain interested in securing the stadium following this summer's Games and are expected to learn the result of their bid in September.
