Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz claims that Mark Webber could remain with the team next season.

Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz has insisted that Mark Webber is in the team's plans for next season.

Webber, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign, is widely expected to depart due to problems with teammate Sebastian Vettel.

Webber and Vettel's relationship is at breaking point following the latter's decision to ignore team orders and pass the former in the Malaysian Grand Prix last month.

However, Mateschitz told Speedweek: "Whether he retires, only he will choose, but Mark is definitely a candidate for 2014."

Next up is the Chinese Grand Prix later this month.
