Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei may seemingly find himself in a period of limbo amid interest from Torino.
Since the beginning of the winter transfer window, it has been apparent that the Italy Under-21 international has no future at Stamford Bridge.
Despite making four starts and two substitute outings in cup competitions, club officials are now eager to generate a sizeable transfer fee for his signature.
Over the past week, reports have indicated that Lazio and Torino have each been vying for his signature, Casadei having the opportunity to experience Serie A football for the first time.
However, despite four weeks of speculation, it appears that there is not a clear route to completing a move to his preferred destination.

Conflicting reports
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated on X that a proposed switch to Torino had been called off.
That was a consequence of Romano alleging that Torino had chosen to push through a deal for RB Leipzig man Eljif Elmas instead.
Nevertheless, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Casadei has chosen to join Torino and a transfer remains on the table.
Torino are allegedly prepared to commit to both deals having held discussions with Chelsea regarding a final fee for Casadei on Monday night.
Once Chelsea formally give the green light, it is reported by Di Marzio that Casadei will travel to Italy to complete a move to Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Any issues expected Chelsea's end?
Providing that they are receiving at least £10m with a sell-on or buy-back clause, Chelsea may be happy to wrap things up their end as soon as possible.
The club's hierarchy are looking to generate funds for at least one new signing, with Renato Veiga having already been allowed to join Juventus on loan.
Axel Disasi is said to be keen to move to Aston Villa, while speculation persists regarding the futures of Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku.
