Chairman of the Open's championship committee Jim McArthur has insisted that the course is playable at the moment, but admitted that the weather has caused them problems.
The unpredictable nature of the British weather has played havoc with preparations both on and off the course, with spectator walkways worrying McArthur too.
"Obviously the weather has caused us some problems and maybe more to come. The course is at the moment perfectly playable. The greens are fine, they're putting well. They are a bit soft and a bit slower than we would like," he said.
"There are some bunkers which are causing us some concern because of the water table and the level of groundwater, but we're confident that the rules of golf will help us cope with any situations which develop.
"We have some issues off the golf course with spectator walkways which we are dealing with and are gradually improving."
The Open Championship begins tomorrow at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club.
