Rory McIlroy could miss next year's Irish Open because of a schedule clash with a big tournament in the United States of America.
It is believed that a currently unnamed insurance company has been lined up to take over as title sponsor of the Irish Open.
As a result of that, it could move the event from its normal late July slot in the European Tour schedule to Thursday, June 28 2012.
A switch to that date would leave the 22-year-old to choose between his home event and the AT&T National at the Congressional Club, the scene of his US Open victory in June of this year.
Simon Dyson recently claimed the 2011 Irish Open title.
