Adam Scott has defended fellow major winner Rory McIlroy over his club throwing incident at the WGC-Cadillac Championship yesterday.
McIlroy, the current world number one, threw his three-iron into a lake on the par-five eighth after his approach found the water.
"I can understand Rory throwing a club; this is the most frustrating game ever," Scott told reporters. "We have all done it, whether you're a pro or just playing at your local club on a weekend. This is a brutal game. Tell me who hasn't thrown a club?
"I threw one back home in Australia about four years ago just playing a social round and I wasn't even playing in a match. But then, I have to say it felt good."
McIlroy, who goes into this year's Masters looking to complete a career grand slam, has since apologised for the incident.
