Michelle Wie has carded a second-round 66 to move to within one shot of the lead at the halfway stage of the US Women's Open.
The American's round was the best recorded at Blackwolf Run over the opening two rounds and she now sits a shot adrift of Norwegian Suzann Pettersen.
Pettersen was two shots back after the first round but she hit four birdies on the way to a round of 68 to head Wie and Cristie Kerr.
German Sandra Gal leads the European challenge, and she currently lies in tied-fourth after two solid rounds of 71 and 70.
