Oliver Wilson rises 636 spots in world rankings after Dunhill Links triumph

Oliver Wilson climbs a whopping 636 places in the latest world golf rankings after his maiden European Tour victory.

England's Oliver Wilson has climbed 636 places in the latest world golf rankings after his maiden career victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Wilson held off world number one Rory McIlroy to win the European Tour event in Scotland by one stroke.

Having started the tournament as the world number 792, Wilson is now up to 156 in the standings.

There was no change in the top 10, with McIlroy still way clear at the top after his two Major victories at The Open and US PGA Championship this summer.

Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Jim Furyk and Henrik Stenson complete the top five.
