Justin Thomas claims USPGA Championship title

American Justin Thomas wins the US PGA Championship title by two shots to claim his first Major crown at Quail Hollow.

Justin Thomas has claimed his first Major title by winning the US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow by two shots.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fine 2017 campaign and he held his nerve to see off the challenge of Francesco Molinari, Patrick Reed and Louis Oosthuizen.

Unlike the US Open and British Open, more than two players were in realistic contention to secure victory in North Carolina, with Hideki Matsuyama, Kevin Kisner and Chris Stroud also holding out hope of a first Major.

However, Thomas put together a sequence of five birdies in 11 holes to finish at the top of the leaderboard, with Kisner - who began the day in front - ending the event in seventh place after trying to hole his second shot on the last to force a playoff, eventually registering a double bogey.

The highest-finishing Englishman was Jordan Smith, who finished in a share of ninth on his Major debut, while world number one Dustin Johnson earned 13th place.

Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter claimed a share of 22nd spot after impressing on the final day, with Jordan Spieth a shot further adrift in 28th position.
