Butch Harmon: 'Tiger Woods is a lost soul'

Tiger Woods is a "lost soul", according to his former coach Butch Harmon after he watched the 39-year-old miss the cut at the US Open.

Tiger Woods's former coach Butch Harmon has said that he is finding it "tough to watch" the American on current form.

Woods failed to make the cut at the US Open after two rounds of 80 and 76 gave him a final score of 16-over par, which is his worst ever score at a Major.

The 39-year-old has hardly played in the last two years due to injury, and Harmon has described him as a "lost soul".

He told Sky Sports News: "It's tough to watch. We were trying to think what we could compare it to and my son Claude had the best analogy. It's like going to Wimbledon and watching Roger Federer not be able to hit the ball over the net.

"It's kind of sad to be honest with you. I am not sure any of us has the answer. He looks like a lost soul out there. We hope he would go home and take some time off and don't come back until you are 100% ready to play."

Woods has confirmed his intentions to play in next month's Open championship at St Andrews.
