Team GB gymnast Hannah Baughn has told Sports Mole that she and acrobatic mixed pair teammate Ryan Bartlett are aiming for a silver medal at the European Games in Baku.
The duo qualified for the balance, dynamic and all-around finals on Wednesday after performing two routines in front of fans and judges inside the National Gymnastics Arena.
With a strong field that includes Russia, Ukraine and hosts Azerbaijan all vying for medals, Baughn believes that a second-place finish in any of the events would represent success for herself and Bartlett.
"We're hoping that we pip silver," said the 14-year-old, who is Team GB's youngest athlete at the Games. "If not, we'd love to get a bronze. We just need to do three clean routines, to be honest."
With the pair due to return to action later this week, Baughn has also revealed that she is enjoying being part of a multi-sport event for the first time.
"It feels great," she added. "I've never done a multi-sport event before, so it's amazing. And the crowd have been good - they really get you going. It was nerve-wracking this morning walking out there, but once we did our moves we went back to normal. And the crowd kind of helped us."
Baughn won a silver medal at the 2014 World Championships and is also a two-time British, European Junior and European Dynamic champion.
