England thrash India to win bronze

England women have won bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games courtesy of a 6-0 victory over India at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre this afternoon.

It looked as though it might be a tight affair when the opening quarter ended goalless, and the second followed a similar pattern before Hollie Pearne-Webb finally broke the deadlock with just over three minutes of the first half remaining.

India were still very much in the match at that stage, though, and even after Sophie Bray doubled England's advantage in the closing stages of the third quarter the game still looked to be up for grabs heading into . . .
