The only goal of the contest came in the second period when Jamie Benn found the target, while goaltender Carey Price stopped 31 shots.

It will be the second straight appearance in the Olympic final for Canada, who defeated the Americans 3-2 in overtime to win the Vancouver Games four years ago.

Earlier on Friday, Sweden beat Finland 2-1 to secure their place in the final.
