Team England's Colin Oates wins judo gold

Colin Oates emerges victorious from the men's under-66kgs judo final to claim gold for Team England.

A quick throw and armlock combination was enough to give Team England's Colin Oates victory in the men's under-66kgs judo final against Andreas Krassas of Cyprus this evening.

Oates, who was brought up in Norfolk but is now fighting out of the Edinburgh Ratho club, produced some strong Ne Waza groundwork en route to the final.

Scotland collected another bronze medal when James Millar - a late call-up for the team as replacement for the injured 100kg judoka James Austin - defeated Mathews Bpunza of Zambia with a late ippon throw.

Oates's gold comes after Ashley McKenzie had also triumphed for England in the men's under 60kgs judo final earlier in the evening.
