Darren Burnett wins third lawn bowls gold of Glasgow 2014 for Scotland

Scotland pick up their third lawn bowls gold medal of the 2014 Commonwealth Games courtesy of Darren Burnett's victory over Ryan Bester in the men's singles.

Darren Burnett has defeated Canada's Ryan Bester in the men's singles to win another lawn bowls gold medal for Scotland.

On the back of the fours team's success earlier today, Burnett beat Bester 21-9 at Kelvingrove to win the hosts' third gold medal in the sport of this year's Games.

Burnett raced into a 13-1 lead by the 10th end, and his Canadian opponent was only able to pick up the odd point as he saw the game out with relative ease.

The podium is completed by Aron Sherriff of Australia, who defeated compatriot Shannon McIllroy 21-8 in the bronze-medal match.

The gold medal for Scotland makes this their most successful Commonwealths ever in lawn bowls.
