Former Arsenal defender John Roberts has passed away at the age of 69.
Roberts racked up 81 appearances for the Gunners across a three-year spell following his arrival at Highbury from Northampton Town in 1969.
The defender, who earned 22 caps for Wales, was part of the team that became only the second in the modern era to claim the league and FA Cup double in the 1970-71 campaign.
After learning of Roberts's death, Arsenal released a statement, which read: "Everyone at Arsenal Football Club was saddened to hear of the death of John Roberts. The thoughts of everyone at Arsenal are with John's family and friends."
Roberts played for seven clubs, including Birmingham City, Wrexham and Hull City, during his career before retiring in the early 1980s.
