Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech hits out at Brexit "lies" following EU vote

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech hits out at the Brexit campaign's "lies" after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has slammed the Brexit campaigners after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union after 43 years as a member.

Thursday's referendum ended in victory for the Leave campaign by 51.9% of the vote, while 48.1% opted to remain.

One of the pledges made by Brexit campaigners was that the £350m paid to the EU each week would be poured into the National Health Service.

However, during an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain, UKIP leader Nigel Farage, who backed UK's exit from the EU, admitted that it was a "mistake" to make that promise.

In response to Farage's backtracking, Cech tweeted: "It looks like the biggest decision in the history of this country was made based on fake campaign and lies."

The vote could impact the Premier League as EU players may be subjected to the same process that non-EU footballers need to go through in order to complete a transfer to England.
