Human rights organisation Amnesty International has been banned from entering Azerbaijan for the European Games in Baku.
A new report highlighting the regime's attempts to silence critics ahead of the inaugural Games was due to be written by Amnesty International.
However, according to The Guardian, the organisation's officials received a message from the Azerbaijan Embassy late on Tuesday afternoon informing them that it was "not in a position to welcome the Amnesty mission to Baku at the present time".
The Embassy also stated that any visit should be held off until after the conclusion of the Games, which get underway on Friday.
Meanwhile, British activist Emma Hughes of London-based Platform has been barred from monitoring the Games after she previously criticised the relationship between oil and gas company BT and Azerbaijan's regime.
