Shakira has revealed that she has split from long-term partner and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

The high-profile duo started a relationship in 2011 and have two children, born in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

However, allegations recently emerged in Spanish outlet El Periodico that Pique was caught being unfaithful with another woman.

While that report is yet to be proven, the claim has been followed by world-renowned pop singer Shakira announcing that their pair had gone their separate ways.

A statement read: "We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding."

The report has also suggested that 35-year-old Pique has been living at what they describe as 'a bachelor pad' for a number of weeks.

Furthermore, Pique is said to have frequented nightclubs along with his younger teammates on a number of occasions, arriving back home in the early hours of the morning.

Pique's last appearance for Barcelona this campaign was back on May 1, a consequence of sustaining an injury during the 2-1 victory against Mallorca.

In total, the veteran centre-back made 39 outings in all competitions during 2021-22.
