An Olympic swimmer from Comoros, an island in the Indian Ocean, has been jailed for eight months after she tried to flee the UK with a false passport.
Ayouba-Ali Sihame, who came last in her women's 100m freestyle heat at London 2012, vanished from the Olympic village and lived on the streets in the capital before getting caught trying to leave for France at Dover with a fake passport.
The 18-year-old was given the jail term at Canterbury Crown Court in Kent after admitting that she held a false ID and claimed that she wanted to escape an arranged marriage to a man who already has two wives.
Sihame was one of just seven athletes that competed for her nation at the London Games.
