Hillsborough campaigners Margaret Aspinall and Trevor Hicks are due to receive CBEs at Buckingham Palace today for their service to the families of the 96 Liverpool fans who died in 1989.
The duo have been figureheads for the justice campaign after lives were lost as a result of a crush at the Hillsborough stadium during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Aspinall and Hicks will be among 70 people to be honoured by the Queen as part of the New Year's honours list.
Aspinall's 18-year-old son James died in the disaster, while Hicks lost his daughters Sarah, 19, and Victoria, 15, in one of the country's biggest sporting tragedies.
Fresh inquests into the deaths are ongoing in Warrington after the original 'accidental' verdict was quashed.
