Manchester United and England forward Mason Greenwood's trial for attempted rape is set for November 2023.

Mason Greenwood has been re-bailed until a hearing in February, with a trial date for the Manchester United and England forward set for next November.

In January, the 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault following accusations from a woman, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The forward has been suspended by his club since the allegations were made, and he is facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Last month, it was revealed that the Crown Prosecution Service had "authorised" the Greater Manchester Police to charge the Englishman.

"The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Greater Manchester Police to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm," said the Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West Janet Potter.

"All three counts relate to the same complainant. Specialist rape prosecutors from CPS North West's complex casework unit authorised the charges following a review of a file of evidence received from Greater Manchester Police.

"The defendant's first court appearance will take place on Monday 17 October at Greater Manchester magistrates' court.

"The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice those proceedings."

Greenwood has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 appearances for Man United in all competitions, with his last appearance for the club coming against West Ham United on January 22.

The forward will now face trial over the allegations in November 2023, and he has been re-bailed at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court ahead of a hearing on February 10.

The trial date has been set for November 27, 2023, and according to BBC Sport, Greenwood only spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

The hearing is said to have lasted under 10 minutes, and Greenwood's parents and sister were present.
