Alex Morgan joins Lionel Messi on FIFA 16 cover

Alex Morgan and Christine Sinclair will share the cover of EA Sports game FIFA 16 with Lionel Messi.

USA international Alex Morgan and Canada's Christine Sinclair have been chosen as the first female athletes to be shown on the cover of FIFA.

The two women will be featured on the covers of the regional versions of the popular game, alongside Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

"It is an incredible honor to be one of the first women featured on the cover of EA SPORTS FIFA," said Morgan in a statement.

"I know people all over the world play this game and I'm really excited that FIFA 16 is putting such an important spotlight on women's soccer. And now to share the cover with today's greatest player is surreal."

Morgan helped the USA to victory in this summer's World Cup.
