David Beckham's Miami stadium plans described as "nutty" in local advert

Businesses that oppose David Beckham's plans to build a football stadium on Port Miami take out adverts describing the proposal as "nutty".

David Beckham is continuing to come under fire for his proposal to build a football stadium in Miami for his new MLS franchise.

The 39-year-old is keen to install a ground along the Florida city's port, but Miami Seaport Alliance, a coalition of businesses and politicians, are opposed to his plans.

According to the Daily Mail, the coalition recently took out adverts in the local press stating: "A soccer stadium at Port Miami is downright nutty."

The group, which includes Royal Caribbean Cruises, are concerned that the stadium will prevent the development of the site and could result in the loss of thousands of jobs on the port.
