Tom Daley's grandparents have expressed their surprise at being told that the Olympic diver is in a relationship with a man.
The 19-year-old revealed the news in a YouTube video to his fans yesterday, just 24 hours after informing his family.
Despite claiming that the teen sportsman is "too young" to be making a decision about his sexuality, David and Rosemary Daley have insisted that they will support their grandson.
"We are confused because he's always had girlfriends," the Daily Mail quotes Mrs. Daley as saying.
"We have always been supportive of him and we always will. We're not old-fashioned, in fact we're quite liberal, but I do think he's too young to be making this sort of decision.
"But we hugged him, we thanked him for coming to see us, and we'll be seeing him over Christmas. We'll always be here for Tom."
Daley revealed that he met his boyfriend earlier this year.
