English footballer Thomas Morgan has been found dead in a river in Norway after apparently drowning following a night out with his FK Gjovik-Lyn teammates.
The body of the 23-year-old, who was born to English parents, was found in the Hunnselva river, which is just North of Oslo, by a search team on Tuesday morning.
The police have claimed that his death is not being treated as suspicious, but an investigation is taking place to discover how Morgan ended up at the river.
The Daily Star quotes Gjovik-Lyn's head of football Morten Lonstad as saying: "[Morgan] had been on a night out with the team. The police are still investigating what happened.
"The team had two important matches last week and won both of them so they were out for the night celebrating. At the end of the night people went home and Thomas said goodbye. They'd had a nice evening and everyone was very happy.
"It's a big shock for everyone at the club, it's really sad, we can't believe what has happened."
Morgan signed for Gjovik-Lyn in January.
