Gary Lineker's mother has died, the former England captain announced on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old broke the news on social media, describing his mum Margaret as "wonderful and beautiful".
Lineker wrote: "I am profoundly saddened to tell you that my wonderful, beautiful mother has left us. She will though live on in my heart and mind. #RIPMum"
After receiving messages of support, the former Leicester City, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur forward added: "Thank you all so much for your good wishes. It's overwhelming really and massively appreciated."
She wouldn't want sympathy. She wouldn't want tears. She would want a gin and tonic. Cheers Mum #RIP
