Retired boxer Ricky Hatton has revealed that he visits a psychiatrist once a month in a bid to tackle his depression.
The 35-year-old, who has previously battled with drugs and alcohol, has insisted that he is no longer "scared" to admit when he is suffering.
"I actually see a psychiatrist once a month now because of all the problems I've gone through to keep me in check," Hatton told the Manchester Evening News.
"I think if more people who suffer from depression just swallow their pride and say, 'Listen, I need help. Someone give me a hug. Someone talk to me,' it would help.
"I'm not scared of admitting that now because when I did finally realise that I had to admit it, I think that's why I'm still here."
The former two-weight world champion announced his retirement from boxing in November last year.
